Cruiser crashes into Surrey pub

Surrey RCMP are investigating a case of reckless driving after one of its own cruisers was struck and sent flying into a local pub.

At 3:30 on Friday afternoon, the cruiser was driving down the 13400 block of 72nd Avenue when the vehicle next to it, a Pontiac Sunfire, suddenly changed lanes and collided with the police vehicle.

The impact sent the cruiser over the curb and into the retaining way of the Robin Hood Pub.

The building and the vehicle were both extensively damaged by the incident, but no one was injured.

The driver of the Sunfire allegedly fled the scene but was later tracked down thanks to a witness who reported the car’s licence- plate number.

The investigation is continuing and no charges have been laid yet.
