Activists opposed to the proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline project say the risk of environmental damage is greater than any potential economic benefit–and they’re bringing that message to the lawns of the BC Legislature Sunday.
Protest organizer Jenny McCartney says her biggest concern is the ships that would transport oil from the pipeline.
“once this oil gets to the coast they’re going to be put on giant tankers, and it’s just a matter of when one of these tankers spills.”
According to the protest’s Facebook page, Rise Up Against Enbridge, over 1700 people say they’re going.
