Testimony by an Ontario Deputy Police Chief at BC’s Missing Women Inquiry has attracted the attention of several prominent Vancouver lawyers believed to be representing some key figures in the delayed capture of serial killer Robert Pickton.
The lawyers, Richard Peck, David Butcher, David Crossin, Greg Delbigio and others, have expressed interest in questioning Jennifer Evans.
She wrote a report highly critical of Vancouver Police and several senior Mounties including former Chief Superintendent Gary Bass, “He would actually be closer to the situation and be aware and have the ability to re-deploy resources. Individual mistakes, human error, speaking to the systemic way in which this whole event was being organized? Yes.”
Evans says it was clear a predator was trolling Vancouver’s downtown east side at least three years before Pickton was arrested in February of 2002.
The inquiry resumes at 9am Tuesday when Evans will be cross-examined by lawyers representing the RCMP.
