A new survey finds nearly one-quarter of Metro Vancouver residents know someone who is, or has recently been homeless.
The survey for the regional government is being released just ahead of the annual “Homelessness Action Week”.
Metro Vancouver’s Alice Sundberg says it also shows people are not satisfied with the rate of progress in addressing the issue throughout the region.
She says “having affordable housing in the community – really the major roadblocks are the lack of funding.”
Specifically, funding from the Federal Government, which Sundberg says has been locked at 8 million dollars for 12 years.
