A Ucluelet woman may be able to keep her pet deer after all.
Environment Minister Terry Lake says he’s asked staff to work with Janet Schwartz and her pet deer Bimbo in hopes of allowing the two to continue living together.
Lake says a team of experts must examine the health of Bimbo and her surroundings, but they understand the risks of removing an animal that has become so accustomed to a home setting.
Schwartz says she adopted “Bimbo” in 2004 and the animal now eats candy and watches TV with her.
