External review ordered into Paul Boyd police shooting

Minister of Justice and Attorney General Shirley Bond says new video and witness information in the Paul Boyd case will be investigated by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team.

New video has emerged showing the final moments of Boyd’s life, before he was killed by Vancouver Police officers in 2007.

The mentally-ill man was shot eight times, — after being armed with a chain, supposedly advancing on officers along Granville street.

He was crawling toward police when the last shots were fired.

Bond says in a statement it is essential British Columbians have confidence in the police, and this is a very sensitive case.
