Falcon defends TransLink

Finance minister Kevin Falcon is defending the rising cost of TransLink’s board of directors.

Speaking on CKNW’s the Bill Good show, Falcon says the board needs to have experts who can manage it in the best interest of taxpayers.

“The fact of the matter is, they’re balancing their budgets, and they’re running their operatings certainly in a much more disciplined manner than they were before when the system was almost bankrupted.”

In 2007, the board was paid about $ 125,000, but in 2010, the cost of the board rose to $ 624,000.

With the chair making $ 125,000, almost the same as the entire board made three years earlier.
