Fatal hit-and-run driver sentenced to four years in prison

The family of an elderly couple killed by a hit-and-run driver in Surrey nearly four years ago has a mixed reaction to Thursday’s sentencing of Ravinder Binning.

The man who killed Dilbag and Bakshish Badh in 2008 has been sentenced to four years in prison and been banned from driving for 10 years.

Varinder Badh, who was in the car with her parents when Binning crashed into them, says they are still seeking justice.

“This is once again a strong example of the fact that there needs to consistency in sentencing, and the only way we can do that is by establishing minimums.”

The Badh family vows to continue advocating for public safety, because the Crown had asked for a sentence of five years in prison.
