Fight HST says they will act if there are changes to the PST slipped into coming bill

The group that engineered the downfall of the HST will be keeping a close eye on Victoria and are ready to mobilize their army, again, if need be.

Fight HST spokesperson Bill Tieleman says his fear is the government might slip in changes to the PST by tabling a bill on the tax at the last minute.

He said “The referendum was very clear to return it the way it was and anything less than that is extremely dubious.”

Tieleman says he is hearing the massive and complex legislation might be introduced with days to spare before the house rises.

He said “Why would the government delay until the very last days of the legisature, which it appears to be doing, the legislation to get rid of the HST  what is the rationale for that and don’t tell me it is complicated when we have had the PST for 60 years it is not complicated.”

Tieleman says the Liberals are playing with fire if they try to slip changes to the PST into the bill.

He said “And to leave the legislature with less than a few days to debate it we are worried that there may be some significant changes and it may be very objectionable.”

Tieleman says if the government tries something funny then fight hst will act, again.

He said “We would have to discuss what we could do but recall is still out there, that is still an option there is public protest there is all sorts of things that can be done but you know the Liberal party really is not in a position to further damage its political credibility in this province.”

With the PST scheduled to return next spring Tieleman says the phasing out of the HST has taken much too long.
