A BC man says he deserves his Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, even though he faces a criminal trial. Surrey radio station Manager Maninder Gill received the honour last weekend.
He says he’s helped raise several million dollars over the years for various causes, such as disaster relief and health care, “I get honoured from 300 organizations. This is not the first time somebody has honoured me.”
Gill faces several firearms and aggravated assault charges stemming from a shooting in 2010. He says he’s confident he will be acquitted at trial this fall.
New Democrat MP Jinny Simms, who chose Gill for the award, says she was unaware of the charges.
