Huge fire at Ruskin mill

The call came in early Sunday morning and at the height of the battle, flames could be seen shooting up to 100 feet in the air.
Eyewitnesses also report multiple explosions.

The fire has calmed down considerably, but crews expect to be there for much of the day putting out hot spots.

We understand there was no one on shift at the mill when the flames broke out.

As you may recall, it was a year ago last week that another huge fire heavily damaged the nearby Watkins sawmill.

This morning’s fire is only a block away from that facility — burning at the Waldun Group mill on 287 Street near Lougheed Highway.

No word yet how the blaze started.
