An all-party committee of the legislature wants to hear from the public and experts about the use of taser stun guns this month.
New Democrat MLA Kathy Corrigan is the deputy chair of the group, she says the review was mandated by the 2009 Braidwood report on tasers following the death of polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski.
“Braidwood said that he was on the balance of it supporting the use of tasers, but that that was conditional upon the very many recommendations that he had being implemented, so it’s really important to find out whether those recommendations have been implemented.”
The deadline for public input is November 2nd the committee will then submit any recommendations it has to the legislature.
