Lettuce recall at I-G-A

Salad products found in local I-G-A stores are now subject to a nation-wide recall.

Products with best before dates between May 12th and the 29th are affected.

Lettuce packaged in ‘Compliments’ and ‘Sensations’ brand salads may be contaminated with listeria.

So far, there have been no reported illnesses.

Food containing that type of bacteria may not look or smell bad, but listeriosis can cause fever, headaches and nausea.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has also expanded a health hazard alert for certain ‘River Ranch’ salads, which may also contain listeria.

Those California-based products, including shredded cabbage, are distributed by ‘Freshpoint Vancouver.’
