A contractor charged with assaulting a construction flag person in New Westminster more than a year ago is representing himself at his trial.
Michael Biemans denies allegations he deliberately ran down the victim in November of 2010 with his work truck, saying he repeatedly warned the person to get out of his way.
The victim, Paul White, was not seriously injured.
The trial before a provincial court judge in New Westminster is slated to last one day.
Biemans who is wearing jeans and a rugby shirt as he addresses the court was given an opportunity this morning to ask for a stay of proceedings because of evidence disclosed late by the crown.
Saying he “wants the matter over and done with,” he has elected to go ahead with the trial.
