Metro Vancouver mayors discuss connectivity

Port Moody’s mayor says lots of ideas were exchanged Friday among more than a dozen Metro Vancouver mayors about connectivity in their communities.

Mike Clay says the discussion was a valuable use of time.

“The highest level of importance in any community is probably always public safety, but it doesn’t mean that we’re consumed with only talking about you know, police and fire and ambulance and health services.  Life has to go on in every aspect of our community.”

Clay says he thinks the municipalities will probably talk to each other more now about how they’re reaching into commmunities and what the outcomes are.

The discussion was part of a 6-day summit put on by Simon Fraser University, the City of Vancouver, and the Vancouver Foundation to explore the issue of isolation in Metro Vancouver.

The Vancouver Foundation released research earlier this year, indicating isolation and disconnection are problems.
