More street racers taken off road

Two 17-year-olds have been charged and had their cars impounded for allegedly street racing in Whistler.

RCMP say they were called yesterday after witnesses reported a Mazda 3 and a Ford Explorer zooming along Blackcomb Way.

Two 17-year-old novice drivers were allegedly at the wheel, as the cars approached Nancy Green Drive.

Police say they couldn’t stop at the stop sign and narrowly missed hitting a cyclist.

The teens have been charged with driving wrecklessly, fined up to 368 dollars and had their cars impounded.

That’s two cases of street racing in the Lower Mainland in as many days.

Four high-end cars were impounded after their drivers were caught racing yesterday morning around 160 kilometres an hour on the Trans-Canada Highway at the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge.
