Murder in Vancouver

Vancouver Police are dealing with the city’s sixth homicide of the year.

Sgt. Randy Fincham says the death of a man in his fifties, found stabbed behind a building in the 34-hundred block of Renfrew Street last night, looks to be a targeted attack.

A 47 year old Burnaby man was identified as a person of interest overnight.

“Shortly after 4am this morning, patrol officers found the man driving his car in the area of Boundary and Lougheed Highway. They followed the car to East Broadway and Nanaimo Street where they tried to pull the car over.  The man refused to stop which caused a short police pursuit.”

The car collided with a police vehicle, the man suffered minor injuries while being arrested, and an officer was also injured in the crash.

The man is a person of interest, and is not facing any charges in relation to the homicide.

He is facing charges related to the collision.

He was also arrested on an outstanding Burnaby warrant for assault.
