New City of Vancouver Website Criticized

The City of Vanacouver’s new website is just up and running and already the critics are lining up not just to complain about the three-million-dollar cost but the content too.

The City’s unveiled a re-design of its website hoping users will find it easier to navigate than the old one.

However Park Board Commissioner Melissa De Genova doesn’t like it saying it’s too political.

She says the Vision Vancouver administration has taken over the website and all she sees are pictures of mayor Gregor Robertson and his Vision team.

She also says the Park Board logo has disappeared from the website.

As well she says the three-million-dollars could have been better spent like restoring the 900 staff hours that were recently cut at community centres.

City spokesperson Laurie Best says in the ‘your government’ section you will find the Park Board logo.

She says “the city has been looking for opportunities to do branding that is mutually reinforcing.”
