Pedestrian collision suspicious: police

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver police say they’re investigating a collision involving a pedestrian, which happened under what they describe as suspicious circumstances.

Police say a 22-year-old man was struck by a car Saturday evening in an area southeast of the city’s downtown.

A news release says it appears the man was involved in an altercation just before he was hit

Police believe he left his car to pick up gasoline in a jerrycan, and was confronted by two men by his vehicle.

During the confrontation, the man ran into the roadway, where he was struck by a passing vehicle and left with critical injuries.

The driver remained at the scene, but the two men ran off.

Police are looking for the jerrycan.
