Pedestrian struck and killed in Kitsilano

Vancouver’s eighth traffic fatality of  2012 involved a woman struck by a car in Kitsilano during the noon hour.

VPD Constable Lindsey Houghton says the 67-year old driver was trying to parallel park on the north side of the 28-hundred block of West Broadway.

“Hhen for an unknown reason, the car accelerated, striking a 52-year old vancouver woman who was walking westbound on the sidewalk. The woman was pinned between the vehicle and the storefront. She was rushed to hospital, but has sadly succumbed to her injuries.”

The victim’s name has not been released.
