Another move has been made by the RCMP in BC to weed out problem officers.
Starting May 1st a new “early intervention program” will start tracking member behaviour.
Deputy Commissioner Craig Callens says that will include public complaints, use of force, high speed pursuits, car accidents, and even sick days.
“So that appropriate engagement can occur, in an effort to determine whether some form of support, additional training, or intervention is warranted, before there is an incident, or something goes bang.”
This comes amidst growing frustration over the difficulty firing officers like Corporal Monty Robinson.
Robinson was convicted of obstruction of justice in the death of a motorcyclist, despite claiming he’s battled alcoholism and post-traumatic stress disorder after the tasering of polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski.
