Many in an area of Vancouver’s West End are surprised a shooting would happen in their neighbourhood after shots rang out mid-afternoon Tuesday. But most say they still feel safe in their area.
A few people say they heard the shots around 3:00, police were on the scene at Jervis and Comox shortly after and discovered shell casings in an alley.
A pickup truck dotted with bullet holes was stopped on the Burrard Street Bridge a short time later and police say it is a victim vehicle, “I don’t feel any less safe, I think it’s just part of any city really, a part of life.”
“Yes, I would say this would make me feel a little bit less safe.”
“No, it’s a very safe neighbourhood. Lots of people on the street all the time, day and night.”
No one was injured, and no suspects have been identified.
Police say the shooting looks to be a targeted, gang-related attack.
