Shots fired in East Vancouver

Five young men – between the ages of 17 and 20 – have been arrested after shots were fired overnight in East Vancouver.

People living near East 49th Avenue and Prince Edward Street called police after hearing the gunfire just before 3:00 a.m.

Constable Lindsey Houghton says residents also heard a car driving away, “Officers arrived to find several shell casings and bullet damage to a house.  That house was occupied at the time by one youth and three adults.  No one was injured.”

Houghton adds police are familiar with the home.

“Investigators believe that this may have been the result of some type of feud between the youth or the families, but that’s something they’ll be looking into as the day progresses.”

The five in custody could face firearms and mischief-related charges.
