Guilty plea keeps key witness off the stand

The key witness at the trial of a young man accused of distributing obscene pictures won’t have to testify against him Tuesday because he’s pleaded guilty.

A charge of distributing child pornography was dropped when Dennis Warrington pleaded guilty December 20th.

In September of 2010, he posted images online of a 16-year old girl engaged in sexual activity during a rave in Pitt Meadows.

This past October, the judge dismissed a request for a mistrial right before the victim — who’s always claimed she was not a willing participant — was set to testify.

The provincial court trial — slated to resume this week in Port Coquitlam — is now over.

The girl is expected to deliver a victim impact statement at the February 6th sentence hearing.
