Stanley Park goats sold for slaughter?

The Vancouver Park Board may take legal action against a Fraser Valley farmer, who allegedly adopted Stanley Park goats and sheep, only to sell them for slaughter.
Park Board chair Constance Barnes says she is outraged to learn the farmer may have violated an adoption agreement to allow the animals to live out their full and natural lives.
She agrees the goats and sheep may have been sold for their meat.

“As frightening as that is, it is the reality, and that’s why I think we need to be diligent as we can going forward and making sure that this person is absolutely held accoutable, because this was not part of the agreement.”

Barnes says she directed the city solicitor to take aggressive legal action.
City officials will visit 12 other farms to ensure the well-being of adopted Stanley Park animals, after the petting zoo was shut down a year ago.
