The BC Tories and money handling

The BC Conservatives say if they are elected into government this spring they will create a new budget office for fiscal accountability.

Leader John Cummins says his proposed legislative budget office would examine the provincial budget each year to determine if it is fair and accurate.

But, how would it be different than the Auditor-General, “The Auditor-General tends to focus on an issue and essentially do an in-depth accounting but he doesn’t take the broad look that this budget office would do.”

When asked if he has worries about his party being 20-thousand dollars in the hole while stressing fiscal accountability, Cummins said, “Nope, the money is rolling in, the donors seem to be quite happy with what transpired at our annual general meeting and we are very pleased with out fund raising.”

The debt was revealed to members at the party’s AGM.
