The NDP’s Energy critic accuses the Premier of “making it up as she goes along”

The NDP’s Energy critic is shaking his head over the Premier’s comments on her government’s decision to over rule the BC Utlities Commission.

John Horgan says it simply wasn’t accurate for the premier to say the BCUC wanted to hike hydro rates by 50%, when it was BC Hydro applying for a 32% increase.

Horgan says her comments on paying down the deferral account to about $ 250 million was also pulled out of thin air.

“As I understand it through the special direction the government will take $ 25 million less in dividend in each of the next three years that does not add up to $ 250 million as the Premier alleged it adds up to $ 75 million which is a long distance away from solving a $ 2.5 billion dollar problem.”

He says all the Premier has done is keep rates low for a single year but rates will go up significantly in the years after.
