Three dead after two highway crashes

Tragedy on two BC highways Sunday afternoon.

Mounties say an elderly woman has died of her injuries after the car she was a passenger in, went into a ditch and hit a bank in a small gully on Highway 97, north of Clinton at around 1:00.

The woman was from Prince George.

She was flown to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, where she succumbed to her injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.

Meanwhile, Ashcroft and Lytton RCMP were called to a head-on collision on Highway 1, north of Spences Bridge about 2:30.

The driver and passenger of one of the two cars involved, died.

The driver of the other car was flown to hospital with serious injuries.

Police don’t think alcohol or speed were factors.
