To drop them off or not drop them off at school on Monday?

He’s not recommending it, but education minister George Abbott says parents can drop off their children at school next week if they have no other options.

The minister says parents can be confident their kids “will be cared for and safe in schools.”

But at least one district isn’t going that far.

The Chilliwack school district has posted a notice on its website, telling parents they will be “unable to provide students with appropriate supervision during the job action.”

Reached by phone, Superintendent Michael Audet says they won’t turn any students away on Monday, but parents will be given this warning:

“We cannot provide adequate supervision for the day and we advise them to find an alternate placement for their child.”

Education Minister George Abbott admits it goes against what he’s been saying.

“And we’ll follow up on that.”

The Chilliwack district says in some cases, there will only be a principal or vice principal at school next week.
