Transit Police may face changes in structure

Changes could be coming for Transit Police.

Translink is looking at the possibility of Transit Police becoming a subsidiary of the transportation company just like Coast Mountain Bus Company.

Translink spokesperson Bob Paddon, “The intention is, at this point in time, the members are paid for by Translink but the structure is such that they’re not part of the Translink enterprise per se. So, we’re just seeing if this would be a better way to manage working with them.”

Transit Police began to operate as a police service in 2005 and have 177 members.
