Paramount Pictures is in negotiations to acquire the George Washington biopic “The General” for Darren Aronofsky to produce and direct reports Variety.
Adam Cooper and Bill Collage (“Accepted”) penned the script which avoids straight historical drama in favour of a more “Unforgiven”-esque deconstructionist take on the man and historical period. Plot specifics are being kept under wraps.
Despite a deal expected to be closed in the next few days, it’s unsure when the project would go into production. Aronofsky is currently casting his Biblical epic “Noah” which stars Russell Crowe, and is also said to be eyeing the Judy Garland biopic “Get Happy” at The Weinstein Company.
