“Arthur,” “Die Hard,” “Akira” Casting Candidates

Several major 2013 tentpole films will be casting their lead roles in coming weeks with various young Hollywood spunks up for key parts in each of them. Here’s the current list of finalists for five major projects in the works thanks to The Hollywood Reporter.

Arthur and Lancelot
British boys Luke Evans (“Immortals”) and Toby Kebbell (“Rocknrolla”) will be involved in the testing next week for the role of Arthur opposite “The Killing” star Joel Kinnaman as Lancelot in David Dobkin’s “Arthur & Lancelot” at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Kit Harrington previously tested for Arthur and is re-testing for the role in competition with his ‘brother’ from HBO’s “Game of Thrones” actor Richard Madden. [Source: The Hollywood Reporter]

A Good Day To Die Hard
Liam Hemsworth (“The Last Song”), Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”), James Badge Dale (“24”), and D.J. Cotrona (“Dear John”) have emerged as the finalists to play Bruce Willis’ son in “A Good Day To Die Hard” at 20th Century Fox.

Hemsworth is apparently the easy front runner for the part but all will undergo chemistry reads with Bruce Willis next weekend with a decision to be made soon after.

Akira
Ezra Miller (“We Need To Talk About Kevin”) and Alden Eherenreich (“Tetro”) are the favourites for the role of Tetsuo in the live-action remake of “Akira” at Warner Bros. Pictures.

The character is a young man with telekinetic abilities who becomes a dangerous weapon. Garrett Hedlund is in negotiations to play Kaneda, his older brother and a motorcycle gang leader.

Singularity
Luke Grimes (“All the Boys Love Mandy Lane”), Logan Marshall Green (“Prometheus”), Julian Morris (“Pretty Little Liars”) and Thomas McDonell (“Prom”) are all set to take part in a reading next week for Roland Emmerich’s latest sci-fi epic.

Ben Barnes (“The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”) and Luke Bracey (“Monte Carlo”) are also up for the lead role of Adam but won’t participate in the reading.

Winter’s Tale
Tom Hiddleston (“Thor”) and Benjamin Walker (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”) are in the mix for the male role of a criminal on the run in Akiva Goldsman’s period reincarnation “Winter’s Tale” at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Bella Heathcote (“In Time”), Elizabeth Olsen, Gabriele Wilde (“Three Musketeers”) and Sarah Gadon (“A Dangerous Method”) are up for the female lead role.
