George Clooney is attached to direct and produce “The Yankee Comandante” at Focus Features says Deadline.
Focus is currently making a rights deal for David Grann’s massive The New Yorker article from last week about William Alexander Morgan, an American who helped Castro and the Cuban rebels overthrow Fulgencio Batista.
Morgan was the sole foreigner, other than Argentinian Che Guevara, to reach the status of Comandante. He was also imprisoned and sentenced to death for working for U.S. intelligence. Grant Heslov will also produce.
