Media Rights Capital has acquired the film rights to Jonathan Lethem’s dark comedy thriller novel “As She Climbed Across the Table” and is packaging it as a vehicle for David Cronenberg (“A History of Violence,” “Eastern Promises”) to direct reports Deadline.
The novel is a love triangle between an academic, his particle-physicist girlfriend, and the black hole that comes as the result of her lab experiments to replicate the origins of the universe.
The physicist dumps her boyfriend to spend all her time with the black hole and the university professor will do anything to win her back, even confronting his rival for her affections.
Bruce Wagner is slated to pen the adaptation while Steve Zaillian and Garrett Basch are producing. MRC has an output deal with Universal but it’s unsure at present if this film will qualify.
