The studio is negotiating with Marc Guggenheim to pen the script for a film series reboot of classic defense attorney character Perry Mason for Warner Bros. Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.
Robert Downey Jr. is being lined up to take on the role most famously portrayed by Raymond Burr in the 50’s and 60’s TV series. Downey will produce with Susan Downey and Robert Cort.
Guggenheim is writing the script based off an original story by Downey and David Gambino which takes the character back to the original 1930’s Los Angeles setting of the original films and radio plays based on Erle Stanley Gardner’s books.
