“The Walking Dead” executive producer Gale Anne Hurd and her Valhalla Entertainment banner have optioned and are developing an hourlong dramatic TV series based on Annie Jacobsen’s book “Area 51: An Uncensored History of America’s Top Secret Military Base” reports Deadline.
The story follows two men working on the base who are thrust into danger when they uncover secrets that the government will protect at any cost. Unlike its portrayals as a base holding alien technology in many sci-fi shows, this series will focus on the actual technology being developed and tested in Nevada.
Jacobsen interviewed 19 men who served the base and another 55 who had links to it. Karl Gajdusek is penning the script and will serve as showrunner.
