Serkis Plans Mo-Cap “Animal Farm” Film

London-based mo-cap studio The Imaginarium has scored the film rights to both Samantha Shannon’s upcoming dystopian novel series “The Bone Season” and George Orwell’s seminal anti-Stalinist allegory “Animal Farm” reports Deadline.

Imaginarium founders Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish will produce both films while Serkis will also write, direct and star in the “Animal Farm” adaptation.

With ‘Farm’, the aim is “to reinvent the iconic story for a new generation, using the unique storytelling techniques offered by performance capture” says Cavendish.

‘Bone Season’ is set in 2059 and follows 19-year-old woman working in London’s criminal underworld as a ‘dream walker’ – an envoy between secret cells who can drop in and out of people’s minds. She’s attacked, kidnapped and transported to Oxford, a city that has been kept secret for two hundred years.
