“Skyfall” Wraps & New Blu-ray Details

Filming on “Skyfall”, the much anticipated 23rd James Bond feature, wrapped this week in Turkey reports MI6. Daniel Craig reportedly finished his scenes this past Saturday and was spotted flying out to New York City on Sunday.

Second unit photography is still taking place this week in Adana in southern Turkey where scenes for the pre-titles sequence are being done. Shooting on the film began in early November, making “Skyfall” the longest shoot for a Bond feature since 1969’s “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”.

One good bit of news is all that work should show up on screen. Most Bond features clock in at a little over two hours, but the previous entry “Quantum of Solace” was an exception as it ran for just 106 minutes. Now, producer Michael G. Wilson appeared on BBC Breakfast and said don’t expect such shortcutting this time – “It’ll probably be longer, although we really don’t know until we edit it and put it together. I think it’ll be a two hour plus film.”

Also announced this week were the details of the “Bond 50” Blu-ray collection which brings together all twenty-two official Bond features on Blu-ray including nine that weren’t previously released individually such as “The Spy Who Loved Me,” “GoldenEye,” “You Only Live Twice” and “The Living Daylights”. There’s approximately 122 hours of in-depth bonus features, the full list of which can be found at Blu-ray.com.

Bond news finishes off tonight with a 74-second montage of all 193 uses of the phrase ‘Double O’ across the 22 official (and 1 unofficial) Bond films so far.
