Syfy Partly Scraps “Blood & Chrome”

Syfy has decided NOT to go forward with its long-gestating “Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome” spin-off series – at least on television. Initially envisioned as a Web series, the network greenlit the property as a two-hour TV pilot in October 2010.

Due to extensive post-production, the completed pilot wasn’t delivered to Syfy until last November. Back in January came word the network top brass were trying to figure out a way to make the series work financially.

Now, Deadline reports Syfy has decided to pass on the project as a regular series but is looking to do it as a digital one produced for the web.

The already produced 90-minute pilot will air on the network as a movie at a presently undetermined date.

A demo reel popped up online earlier this week after screening at this past weekend’s WonderCon. Said clip went on to score over 100,000 views in 24 hours before NBCUniversal shut it down.
