Zack Snyder To Helm “Star Wars” Film

Zack Snyder To Helm “Star Wars” Film
“Man of Steel” and “300” director Zack Snyder may have already ruled himself out of the running for the upcoming “Star Wars: Episode VII” at Disney Pictures, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be a part of the SW universe.

Vulture reports that Snyder is developing a presently untitled “Star Wars” project for Lucasfilm that is set within the series’ galaxy, though parallel to the next trilogy.

In fact, the story is said to be loosely based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic “Seven Samurai.” Gone are the ronin, instead there’s a band of Jedi knights who will no doubt protect some colonists from a group of bandits.

It’s presently unknown how it will fit within the Star Wars chronology, though the likelihood is it will be set sometime post–”Return of the Jedi”.

In terms of actual production, he wouldn’t begin shooting until after Disney starts production on “Star Wars: Episode VII” which is aiming to be in cinemas by 2015.
