Amanda Todd’s mother not invited to anti-bullying summit

Amanda Todd’s mother says she’s ‘very upset’ she wasn’t invited to the province’s anti-bullying summit this week.

Education Ministry officials say Carol Todd was not invited to the summit.

Carol Todd said on Twitter she was ‘very upset’ at this, and said ‘they thought my presence might upset some of the students present.’

A ministry spokesman says staff were concerned of the ongoing impact of Amanda’s suicide on the kids and teens attending.

He said a ‘representative’ would be sent in her place, and that the Education Minister would meet with her after.

Carol Todd has told the Vancouver Sun she didn’t want to speak at the event, but just listen — especially since the Premier has said Amanda’s death is one of the main reasons she wanted to hold such a summit.
