CLBC and NDP meet in Okanagan

The first of a series of meetings between the Minister of Social Development, and families and clients of Community Living BC was held in Vernon last night.

It was a chance for people to talk about the issues they see as problems with the embattled Government agency.

NDP Social Development critic Nicholas Simons says he hopes the meetings aren’t a way of deflecting attention from the fact there are immediate needs, “It shouldn’t take away from the fact that they’ve been hearing from families directly for many months now, and much of the information is clearly out there.”

Among the issues raised, were concerns about a lack of support for home share providers.

Simons says an accident prevented Social Development Minister Stephanie Cadieux from travelling to the meeting.

CLBC interim CEO Doug Woollard and Board Chair Denise Turner, were there.
