The fight to save Translink’s “Taxisaver” program is gaining more support.
Translink announced earlier this year that it was phasing out the 1.1 million dollar program, sparking an outcry from those who depend on it.
Now, Bruce Chown, the man who essentially created the service in the 1990’s, is adding his name to those calling for Taxisaver to be saved.
“For a rational person and a taxpayer, it doesn’t make sense. It’s not as if this money could be better spent somewhere else, because that’s not the case. The money that’s being spent on the Taxisaver program is being spent very efficiently.”
Translink has since somewhat backtracked, now hosting community consultations on the plans.
