The Chief Medical Health Officer for the Fraser Health Authority says the current flu season could be the worst in recent years.
“I have an outbreak of outbreaks of influenza.”
Doctor Paul van Buynder says the past couple years have been fairly quiet.
“And people have become a little bit blase about what this can do. I’ve had over 14 longterm care facilities already that have had an influenzia outbreak. This is more than double the amount of influenza outbreaks that I had in the whole of the last three years and we’re just at the start of the season.”
He says its not too late for people to get vaccinated, but more people have already died this year than in the past three years combined.
