More than 25,000 BC Government employees won’t be walking off the job anytime soon… because contract talks are continuing.
Negotiations involving the BC Government and Service Employees Union are set to resume June 6th in Victoria.
Talks started up again this week after breaking off at the end of March.
On May 15, members –including liquor store, child protection and corrections staff– voted 82% in favour of job action.
They’re seeking a wage increase of inflation plus one per cent and the Provincial Government has offered 1.5 per cent a year over two years.
The inflation rate is about three per cent.
The last contract expired March 31st.
