BCGEU Strike

Today is the day.

27-thousand government workers hit the bricks for a one day strike — in their campaign for higher wages.

Members of the b-c government and service employees’ union are joined today by members of the professional employees association and members of cope local 378, which represents ICBC workers.

More than 17-hundred worksites are affected by the strike — that includes commercial vehicle inspections, government agencies, courts, corrections, and social work.

And, liquor stores — warehouse and retail workers are not working.

Some branches of ICBC that are connected to service BC offices are closed — claim centres are operating.

Essential service levels do have to be maintained in each sector the BCGEU has members.
