BCGEU talks break down

Talks between the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union and the provincial government have come to a halt.
The BCGEU, representing 25,000 government workers, says it has asked the mediator in negotiations to book out.
In a release, the union writes that two days of mediation this week have failed to produce meaningful progress.
President Darryl Walker says all options have been exhausted after six months of negotiations that included a strike vote and two weeks of mediation.
The union says it has put two proposals on the table that would create more than enough to fund a fair and reasonable new contract and create extra revenue for public services, but claims the government has rejected both without explanation.
