Blood shed over Guinness Record (Warning: graphic content)

Blood ran from two meat hooks pierced into Burnaby Q. Orbax’s back and pooled at his waist as he pulled a 4-tonne pick-up truck 111.7 metres Tuesday to beat a Guinness World Record. The longest previous pull was 107 m.

Orbax followed a strongman-training regime prior to attempting the longest vehicle pull with the least number of meat hooks. But there was nothing that could prepare him for the two back piercings that dug inches into the soft tissue behind the shoulder blades.

“I’m not worried so much about the hooks coming out,” said Orbax of the likely possibility that the hooks could rip his skin. “I’m more worried about the physical exhaustion — it’s not easy pulling a 9,000-pound truck.”

With his brother, Sweet Pepper Klopek, already a proud owner of a Guinness medal for snapping 40 mousetraps to his body in one minute, Orbax said it was his turn.

“I challenge anyone to beat that and with last 15 meters uphill,” Orbax yelled after completing the exhaustive pull and said he would do it again if anyone tried to beat him.

Scheduled for three Monsters of Shlock shows the same night at the Playland for Fright Nights, Orbax hoped his recovery wouldn’t take too long and thought he might take a nap.
