BREAKING: E-coli case in BC linked to X-L Foods plant

BC now has a confirmed case of E-coli linked to the massive beef recall from the X-L Foods plant in Alberta.

The BC Centre of Disease Control received confirmation of the lab test today.

It has been working in partnership with the Ministry of Health, regional health authorities, Public Health Agency of Canada, other provincial and territorial colleagues, Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to investigate E-coli cases connected to that plant.

The BC resident who got sick is from Vancouver Island and has since recovered.

Health officials say make sure you cook raw beef thoroughly, and wash your hands before and after cooking.

You also need to keep knives, counters and cutting boards clean.
