Candente Copper shows off project

VANCOUVER – Candente Copper Corp. (TSX:DNT) says a number of major and mid-sized companies have expressed an interest in its Canariaco Norte development project in Peru.

The Vancouver-based junior mining company says it has signed confidentiality agreements with several parties and they are conducting technical reviews of the project, which has an estimated 7.5 billion pounds of copper.

Candente, which is in the feasibility stage of developing Canariaco Norte, in northern Peru, didn’t identify the interested parties.

Based on preliminary modelling, the company is currently considering a mill able to process 100,000 to 110,000 tonnes of ore per day, which would be five to 16 per cent more than the pre-feasibility plan for a 95,000-tonne mill.

To deal with the increased capacity, Candente’s advisers have proposed another tailings site closer to the processing plant.

The company says completion of the feasibility study has been delayed due to the additional project optimization work and the time required to complete drilling applications.

“The schedule remains highly dependent on ministry approval of the Canariaco Norte drilling program application which has no firm timeline but is expected within three months,” the company said.
